Macaco Puts Another “Gold Team Fighter” Into The UFC

Jorge “Macaco” Patino has placed another of his fighters in the UFC. This time it is Sao Paulo native Felipe “Sertanejo” Arantes, who will be an injury replacement for Antonio Carvalho in a featherweight bout against Yuri Alcantara at UFC 134 in Brazil. This is the second time Alcantara’s opponent has changed. He was initially slated to fight Mackens Semerzier.

Arantes sports a 13-3 record with 2 no contests. Of his 13 wins, only 3 have gone to decision, and 8 of his finishes have come in the opening round. Arantes has not lost in his last 9 bouts.

While he still lives in Brazil, it is assumed that he will come stateside for his fight camps, much like fellow Gold Team fighter Charles Oliveira. Macaco said of the signing, “I am very excited to have another one of my fighters in the UFC. Felipe is pretty good on the ground, but he is excellent with his standup. He will be a very exciting fighter for the UFC and always fights very hard.”

UFC 134 takes place on August 27th in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
