When Strikeforce returns to Texas on February 18th of this year, Houston area fighter Lee Higgins will have a chance to make a name for himself. Higgins, a hot prospect out of Urban Jungle, is slated to fight Ryan Couture (Randy Couture’s son) on the main card of the event.
Higgins, 2-0-0 with 2 submissions, made his pro debut in 2010 and wasted no time climbing the ranks of the lightweight division in Houston, debuting at #10 in the rankings. Higgins was not available for comment, but the news was confirmed on Tony Torres-Apontee’s Facebook page when he posted, “Urban Jungle fighter Lee Higgins is fighting Randy Couture’s son Ryan in Strikeforce on Showtime Feb. 18 in Austin!!!”
Update: Higgins was slated to fight Colby Bartholmey on the IXFA card on Feb. 26, but was allowed out of the fight in order to take the fight with Strikeforce. No word on who will replace Higgins for the IXFA, but as soon as we find out, we’ll let you know.
