Title: Weight Classes
What’s on their mind:
What do you think about weight classes in MMA. I wounder if it would be better to have weight class like boxing and muay thai. Classes like junior flyweight 105-108 and Crusierweight for 205 to 225. I fell it would be healthy in the long run with the fighters.

I think there definitely needs to be a weight class between 205 and heavyweight. There is too much of a difference between the two. Something like a 206-220 would be great.
too many weight classes dilute the sport and you have guys holding titles at certain weights but would get smashed in a weight class like 2 pounds heavier. i think adding weight classes is ok but if you want to fight for a title is should be at one of the current set weight classes and all titles should remain that way limiting your “champs”.

The ONLY weight class that’s is needed is a 225 lb division. There shouldnt be guys 230 lbs fighting guys 260+ that’s too much imo.
I agree with Jeff. 206-225 is the only one I would add.
I’ve always felt like 10lbs was the max gap any class should have.
A 206-220 weight class would benefit guys like me. When I cut to 205 I look like I am malnurished, yet I am too small to fight heavyweight. You guys saw the size difference between me and Matt Steward. I was 215 fight night he was easily 230. Plus it would cut down on the amount of damage inflicted by weight cuts. Plus, I could still eat cookies, cake, pies, and ice cream.
agree with jeremy and jeff… too many weight classes dilute the legitmacy of contenders and belt holders…230 is a weight class that should have been added forever ago…and make heavyweight superheavy and just let it be 265+
I think they should scrap the whole system and institute height classes instead. This way guys like Pat Barry, Mark Hunt, and Kyle Maynard could be champions! Guys like Corey Hill and Cole Miller would be screwed though.
I think adding a cruiser weight class wouldnt be bad…but then again i dint really care about fughting big guys either. Im fine with hw as it is. Ill eat my way into weight class required.
I think that would be a wonderful idea…
I understand to reason for crunching everybody into a few weight classes, but personally I don’t think any weight class should gap more then 10lbs. everyone 6-ft and under has to fight at 155… or just get out “tagged”,
Just my two cents.
