You know the drill Houston, you’ve seen us do this a million times. OK, maybe not a million but thousands at least…kind of. ANYWAY, Our prognosticators are back and feeling pretty good about themselves. Back again are Adam Villarreal (Tapout Magazine,ESPN 97.5 FM’s “In the Cage“), Justin Trapp (FighterPortraits.com), Lance Edwards (TheCageDoor.net), Mike Calimbas (TXMMA.com) and Rich Burmaster (1560 AM’s “The Mount“). Unfortuanately, our co-winners from the last contest didn’t return their picks.
Instead of keeping our experts record like we did last year, this year we’ll be keeping track of their point total. For every correct pick they get +5, for every correct round picked they get +2 and for every method they pick right they get +3. If they pick the correct award winner they get +5 for each. If this sound familiar it’s because we are using the same scoring system for our Fans Pick’em Contest. You can play along and when the fights are over, we’ll compare your score to our experts! Plus, if you score the highest, you get to be on our NEXT experts panel!
Do you agree with them or do you think they are crazy? Either way, let ‘em know! When you’re done reading all the pics, feel free to leave your comments below and let our experts and Houston know who you think is going to win and why.

Adam: I see this one being a war as long as they don’t touch gloves up front! Just kidding….or am I?
Prediction: Malbrough via split decision
Eric: Battle of Jo(h)n’s. Both guys are real tough and will push the envelope in each round.
Prediction: Malbrough via TKO, Rd. 3
Justin: This fight reminds me of the old tale of The Tortoise and the Hare. Harris quickly rose to the forefront with explosive knockouts and quickly became a contender. Malbrough has been quietly improving himself, record and career. Once again I see the maturation of John Malbrough coming to fruition. Look for him to weather the early storm and then settle in before getting the submission
Prediction: Malbrough via Submission, Rd. 3
Lance: Harris starts hard, Marlboroughs a grinder, i really dont know what Harris has after an explosive start, so its hard to call. I think Marlborough will grind this out and win by decision.
Prediction: Malbrough via decision
Mike: This is going to be a tougher fight than most imagine, particularly if it stays on the fight. On the ground though, “The Maniac” has the clear advantage and that’s probably where this fight will be won.
Prediction: Malbrough via Submission, Rd. 2
Rich: Harris has been out of action for a few months but I doubt the power has slacked off any. Malbrough has a solid all around game and has shown improvement in each of his fights.Look for John to try for the early takedown and look to keep Harris on his back.
Prediction: Malbrough via TKO, Rd. 2
Alex Morono vs Jeff Rexroad

| Justin | Picks | Adam, Eric, Lance, Mike, Rich |
Adam: Rexroad all day!
Prediction: Rexroad via decision
Eric: Alex pulled off a quick armbar submission on Mark Garcia. I don’t think he is going to have quite the same opportunities to pull that off here against Rexroad. Jeff is going to test Morono’s stand up game from start to finish of this match.
Prediction: Rexroad via TKO, Rd. 2
Justin: This fight will tell us a lot about where each of these guys stand within their respective careers. Really like Alex and Jeff, good guys. Jeff is huge for a welterweight and he has great ground skills so i dont see Alex catching him in another arm bar finish. Alex has killer instinct and he finishes guys when they appear hurt. Both guys have solid standup. My head says Jeff will edge Morono in an exciting bout but my heart says Alex will come with a good gameplan and pull out the UD.
Prediction: Morono via decision
Lance: Jeff Rexroad is one of the most technically skilled fighters in Houston in my opinion. I went against him last time he fought, because I thought he’d lost his edge in the Craig Gardener fight. Don’t get me wrong Craig is probably the best unranked fighter in Houston at present and is definitely no joke for any opponent. Against Talavera, Rexroad looked great with his technically skilled, cardio machined self.
Prediction: Rexroad via TKO, Rd. 2
Mike: Fight of the night right here! Both these guys can bang everywhere this fight goes and both are talented in just about every aspect of the fight. It’s going to be tough for either fighter to finish and this one could go either way. I’ll have to pick one though so I’m going Jeff Rexroad by virtue of his lengthy jab.
Prediction: Rexroad via decision
Rich: Alex Morono is stepping up his game quickly taking on a tough opponent like Jeff so soon in his career. Alex has very crisp standup and a solid ground game like a younger version of Jeff. Rexroad has been in some great fights lately and is sort of a jack of all trades in the cage.
Prediction: Rexroad via split decision
Tim Snyder vs Alex Black

Tim Snyder | Name | Alex Black | ![]() |

| Paradigm Training Center | Gym | Bushi Ban – World Headquarters | ||
| Adam,Eric,Lance,Mike | Picks | Justin, Rich |
Adam: When I say I love both of these guys I truly mean it, but my journalistic integrity makes me speak my personal truth. I gotta say Tim Snyder, for whatever reason (dumb reasons at that) is always being looked past. He gets looked past and comes in to prove everyone wrong. His experience and camp makes this guys a scary dude and someone to be reckoned with. Alex Black is an amazing and talented up and comer but I don’t think he’s ready for a guy like Snyder.
Prediction: Snyder via TKO, Rd. 2
Eric: Tim has a lot of pop in those hands of his. Alex needs to neutralize them as best as possible to wear him down and get a submission in.
Prediction: Snyder via KO, Rd. 1
Justin: Black is looking to bounce back from his tko loss and Snyder is looking to build momentum shortly after his KO of Aaron Barringer. I think this will be the closest fight of the night. If Alex can use those go-go-gadget arms to establish his jab and control range I think he pulls out a razor close split decision.
Prediction: Black via decision
Lance: I wholeheartedly think Alex Black made a mistake on his last foray, giving up so much weight to a strong guy cost him a dent in his record. Black is hungry and apparently has been training his backside off. Snyder was on a roll before a patch of problems, which appear to have been related to issues in his life. Snyder dealt with Barringer well, and although i truely think Alex Black can go all the way in his career, I think an opponent like Snyder is coming a little too early for him.
Prediction: Snyder via TKO, Rd. 2
Mike: Tough knockouts are hard to recover from and Alex Black is coming off a pretty tough one in his last fight. Snyder is a seasoned opponent and a hard-hitting one at that so I’ve got to think the Paradigm fighter is the favorite in this one.
Prediction: Snyder via KO, Rd. 1
Rich: Tim Snyder throws bombs with every punch and has been around for a long time. Alex is the young up and comer and it will be interesting to see how he rebounds from a tough loss.Alex has more ways to win this fight but if he tries to play around on the feet it could be a short night.
Prediction: Black via Submission, Rd. 2
Andrew Craig vs Bubba Bush

| Team Tooke-Houston | Gym | Brazos Valley MMA | ||
| Adam, Eric, Justin,Lance, Rich | Picks | Mike |
Adam: Andrew Craig is on a tear right now and I feel Team Tooke has prepared this guy to continue to keep guys doing morse code on the mat!
Prediction: Craig via submission, Rd. 2
Eric: Andrew Craig is the best middleweight in Houston and will prove to us all how talented he is by winning 2nd middleweight title in 2 months.
Prediction: Craig via submission, Rd. 2
Justin: Two questions for this fight…Can Andrew Craig prevent the takedown and how much has Bubba’s stand up evolved since his last fight. Everyone knows Bubba is a monster wrestler and I believe he has a bright future in this sport. However, I truly believe Andrew Craig is on the cusp of going to the next level with the UFC or Strikeforce. I think the experience and overall game of Craig will be to much for Bubba, however I am not so sure Craig wins if this fight happens in a year or so.
Prediction: Craig via TKO, Rd. 2
Lance: Two tough guys. Craig has the experience advantage, but Bush isnt to be taken lightly. Coming off a submission victory over the gritty Jon Kirk, i just cant go against Craig.
Prediction: Craig via submission, Rd. 3
Mike: Like a lot of fights on this card, this one is a tough fight to call. All logic says that Andrew Craig should win out in this one with his proven record but a lot of people said the same thing when Bubba fought Chris Spicer. Honestly, if this were a three-rounder, I’d pick Bubba Bush in an upset but five rounds is a long time…. Ahh screw it. I’m picking the upset. Bubba Bush by decision!
Prediction: Bush via decision
Rich: Bubba may be the strongest 185lber in the state. His takedowns are fierce and relentless. Craig is the most well rounded 185lber around and is comfortable anywhere in the cage. Look for Andrew to try and keep this fight standing and try to work Bubba in the clinch. With a few more fights under his belt Bubba will be scary good.
Prediction: Craig via TKO, Rd. 3
Daniel Pineda vs Ray Blodget
![]() |
Daniel Pineda | Name | Ray Blodget | ![]() |

| Adam, Eric, Justin,Lance, Rich | Picks | Mike |
Adam: Simply put, Daniel Pineda is the future of Houston MMA. Ray Blodgett is a beast and not one to sleep on either. Keep in mind these two guys made all 3 rounds of auditioning for The Ultimate Fighter and for whatever reason they didn’t make the show, they showed why they’re the main event for Legacy. I don’t see Ray getting tapped, but I feel Daniel has everything he needs to take it. Best of luck to both of these soldiers!
Prediction: Pineda via decision
Eric: If there is any match that was going to top Blodgett v. Trujillo, this is it. One of the fighters is still present in this match, however I think that Ray is gonna meet his match tonight.
Prediction: Pineda via decision
Justin: Both guys are coming off impressive victories. Pineda has made quick work of his last few opponents and Blodgett was victorious in his absolute war with Rey Trujillo. This is my early pick for fight of the night. I see this going back and forth until later rounds where I see Pineda using his wrestling to get a TKO.
Prediction: Pineda via TKO, Rd 4
Lance: There’s a book, ‘How to win friends and influence people’, you’ll notice in that book its not recommended that one should write predictions on an MMA site, so I don’t think I’ll be winning any today.
Blodgett is 5-0, which of course is a good record, Pineda has far more fights with a number of losses. I haven’t watched Blodgett’s tape of his fight against Trujillo since seeing the fight live. A lot of people thought it was a great fight, and it went the distance. I didn’t think Trujillo fought as well as he could have, but what the fight did show were holes in Blodgett’s game. He failed to capitalize on many attempts to end the fight by submission, which could have cost him the fight.
I hope Blodgett has worked on his holes or what we are about to witness I’m sure will be against the Geneva Convention. Blodgett’s got a good chin, of that there’s no doubt, I do think he will have raised the bar for this fight, but if he hasnt raised it enough I think we are going to witness Blodgett being bloody and battered and Pineda walking away the clear victor.
Prediction: Pineda via TKO, Rd 2
Mike: Ray Blodget (one T) will be defending his 155 title against Pineda in what will undoubtedly be the toughest match of his career. Pit is a strong and explosive fighter everywhere. The thing about Ray is that he loves tough fights. In fact, he seems to shine best when he’s in wars. I respect Pineda a ton but I’m ridin’ with my teammate in this one and I got him winning by submission in round 2.
Prediction: Blodget via submission, Rd 2
Rich: The Pit is on a roll and there does not seem to be anyway to stop him. Blodgett has shown greatly improved stand up to go along with his stellar ground game. Look for Pineada to press the action and to take the fight to the ground where he will try to control from the top.
Prediction: Pineda via split decision

So ready! This is going to be such a great card. I hope these ballsy picks go my way!
Pit for the win! I am so stoked for these fights! Once again a stacked night of fights from Legacy.
This card is so great. By far the hardest on the predictions side.
WAR IV !
The fight i see most sleeping on here is Garza vs huerta….i would be willing to say this will be angels toughest fught to date. Now angel trains withthe best fighters in texas and is a hard worker and is tall big and strong..angel can ko guys for sure. Hes exciting dynamic and is an attraction. Buuuuuuttttt……nate is a perfect guy to beat angel if u had to pick one. Nate is tough as nails. He spars wide open with heavyweights and puts them down…hes a bluecollar blue chip fighter with no hype but a great chin..heavy hands and zero fear for anyone. Think nate is one of the most underrated fighters in tx. Not to mention the kid is strong. Very strong. Most people are expecting angel to walk through him…ill go on record and say thats HIGHLY unlikely. Angel can finish anytime fr sure and im a big fan of his fighting and his style….but i wouldnt be surprised at all to see nate take this. Could be a very entertaining fight and maybe fight of the night. Guys keep ur eyes open and remember what i said.
agree w/ drew imo angel exposed himself to a smaller opponent w/o knockout power in his fight with andy ….. nate will not have that problem ….imo he could’nt walk through andy he have less success with nate let me quote drew ” remember what i said”
What happened to Justin VS Casey????
Angel Huerta is ready. Y’all say he couldn’t walk through andy okay. Look at the key factors in that fight he got taken down swept andy got back on top andy tried a leg lock angel defended. Proves hes well rounded and comfortable any were you put him. Every one angels fought is tough as nails. Akira smith is a beast andy as well as nate they all have heart and toughness angel huerta has that to. To predict a fight is one thing but its not my call to predict a outcome of a fight it’s the fighters who step in the ring who predict the outcome angel and nate will fight and i cant wait to watch it.
If the Morono/Rexroad fight is 5 min rounds it ends in one. If its 3 min rounds Jeff will get to visit his corner before his second loss. Alex may not be the best welterweight in Texas yet but Rexroad doesn’t have an answer for him.
Jeff would be more than happy to have 5 min rds. Alex is a talented young fighter, but Jeff “Doesn’t have an answer for him?” and he’ll “get to visit his corner?” You have no idea what you are talking about. I understand backing your boy but that’s disrespectful in my book . we’ll find out tomorrow
Theres no way in hell you coulda just said that with a straight face Levi. Doesnt have an answer ? Hes got better stand up and a better ground game. You obviously didnt watch his fights with Talavera or Gardner. He showed his diverse ground skills against Gardner and his stand up again Talavera. Not to mention, Morono is gonna have to get inside that loooong reach advantage without getting punched, kneed, kicked, or elbowed, and thats not gonna be an easy things to do. Alex is talented, but this is a terrible match up for him.
Everyone please stfu. We shall all find out tomorrow, were going into a bloodthirsty war. I couldn’t be more excited and I know Jeff is coming in to fight, I sure as hell am! Ive been waiting for a war. One day away!
Tim….i agree 100%…only fighters can decide the outcome….i thinkbits gonna be a great fight and im excited d ti see angel and nate do it.
Levi…think that alex has the x factor…i think he has an intangible…but rexroad is a killer….rexroad will be more skilled in standup and on the ground…rex will have reach and will be as stong or stronger than alex….but i tbink alex has the it as i said….i tbink alex will be ne of the best guys to come.out of houston but to assume rex has no answer is very presumptutious…and wrong. Rex will have answers for sure but who wins will be determined that night…props to alex for fightng him and im looming forward to it.
Reading that was like getting on a mental see-saw and bouncing up and down a few times. Haha.
hahahha yeah heres more specific:
Rexroad will have the advantage in the following areas: training time, Techinique standing and ground, reach, weight and MAYBE strength…..
Alex will have the advantage in X factor….which maybe all that needed to win…some guys can just flat out fight. I have a suspicious that he is one of them….meaning that alex may not know the number of moves theat Jeff does on the ground as jeff is pretty damn neat a black belt right now….but this is mma and i think alex has the ability to out perform the paper. If alex didnt’ believe that he could compete against jeff then he woulnd’t have taken it….so im very interested in it. Jeff is friend of mine and one fo the first guys to help me in mma when i started. Im always pullingg for jeff even if he fougth me….but im a fan of alex if that makes sense. so i think the question is
You heard it here first.
Morono is taking this one.
I agree with Alex on this.
I’m all about supporting team members I also believe u can do it in a respectful manner.
While I appreciate the support from everyone… Saying that either one of us will dominate the other is a false statement.
Alex is a very skilled opponent who poses a lot of different threats. I am taking him as serious a I have any other opponent as I’m sure he is doing the same about me.
So let me and Alex do what we are being paid to do and we will do battle tomorrow. As always I’m sure it will be an exciting fight!
+1 JRexroad
+1 Alex Morono
WOAH WOAH WOAH WOAH! Alex, Jeff you guys stop talking this foolish talk!!
I for one like the talk…it’s good for business! haha. As long as it’s respectful of course.
I mean, that’s what we’re her for right!
J/K guys, as always, you both show just how classy you guys are.
Justin you’re wrong that’s without a doubt: + 100
True dat Barry.
Hype builds fights and that is part of the game. But like u said… It should be done in a respectful manner.
Leave the garbage for the wanna be fighters who train UFC three times a year and have a closet full of Tapout and Affliction. They are the true badasses anyways!!!
Morono is taking this one…..that’s without a doubt..
I’m excited for all the fights. I think I’m friends or at least acquaintances with almost everyone on this card. Popcorn and camera is ready to go.
I hope all this wedding stuff didn’t take Daniel’s and his team’s focus from the task at hand?????
Where’s the shit talking disrespectful crystal ball “you heard it here first” guy?
