Over the past several years, the mixed martial arts community has consistently shown its willingness to help others in need. Whether I’m watching fighters prepare and deliver meals to the homeless, organizing various clothing drives, or placing flags in cemeteries, I’m regularly humbled and amazed by the generosity of our community. It’s astonishing to think that these same people are unfairly portrayed as ignorant barbarians by the media. Several fighters, such as Frost Murphy, Chop Rucker, and Ricardo Talavera, have noticed this as well, and have tried to counter such negative portrayals by donating the winnings from their last professional bouts to various charitable causes. In the spirit of their tremendous generosity, TheCageDoor.net is proud to present Mixed Martial Hearts.
Mixed Martial Hearts isn’t just a clever play on words in the spirit of Valentine’s Day. It’s our new fundraising effort to support the wonderful people at HeartGift.org. HeartGift provides lifesaving surgery to repair congenital heart defects in children who live in countries where this kind of medical care is not available. Several children have already benefitted from the kindness of HeartGift, but it is in constant need of funding to support the travel and medical expenses of the children that they want to help in the future.
To help support HeartGift’s noble cause, TheCageDoor.net and several other companies from around the Mixed Martial Arts/Brazilian Jiu Jitsu community have rallied together to create a shirt and bracelets to help raise the much-needed funding required to help future children get the life-saving heart surgeries that they deserve.
Please be assured that 100 percent of all proceeds will be donated directly to HeartGift.org. While the bracelets have already been produced and are available immediately, we are going to pre-order all of the shirts to avoid any wasteful spending of funds that could be going to HeartGift. The pre-order window will only be open for about two weeks! Let’s show the world the collective heart of the fight community!
If you are donating for the shirt please tell us in the “Add special instructions to the seller” section what size, IN MENS, you need!
Special thanks to those who have been instrumental in this project’s creation:
Scott Miller for his amazing design!
And my 8-year-old son, Jack Hogan, for his amazing fundraising ideas.
