Sweet GOD! I agree with the man who disagreed….eric thompson is NOT and I repeat NOT the baddest blue belt in Houston. I have seen every single one of his fights….and they all look identical. The only one being different is his fight with Levi where Levi just ran through him. Listen to the commentators, if Eric’s jiujitsu was top notch, he would have seen all the opportunities he had to finish his opponent.
Eric seems like he doesnt know what he’s doing, does not finish a single fight, and according to his txmma interview his “hands” are his greatest strength….what hands?! You’re stiff as hell man. You have to put on more exciting fights, I’ve seen the caliber of fighters Coach Tony and Silverback has produced…he has championship quality fighters…you sir i hate to say are not one of them. You have to get better man, what happens if next time you get an opponent thats LEvi’s or G or Geoff’s level? Your gonna get murdered…yeah no one has tapped you out….but you havent exactly have a finish under your belt either.

The thing that scares me the most about talking shit is it blowing up in my face and making me look like a fool. I dont train with the dude, nor do i even know the guy. All i know is that i respect anyone who steps in that cage, unless i know for sure that they are a piece of shit. And last thing i ever want to do is get my ass kicked by someone i had clowned in public. Again, ive only talked to eric in passing, but far be it from me to judge his fights when i wasnt in the cage with him at that moment. From my recent experience, a cage fight is like a dream. It just kind of plays out on its own, like it has already happened and im just watching some crazy replay.
I cant blame you at all man and i agree with you about it being a dream. That too is my dream, to set foot inside the cage at least once and fight. for numerous reasons i haven’t. Believe me sitting on the side lines watching pro and ammy fights, or watching archived ufc, pride, or strikeforce fights and studying mma lights a fire within me. I’d love to join a gym, compete, and live the lifestyle all of Houston MMA fighters do, but i just dont have the resources unfortunately. Times are tough, not just for me…but for everyone gunning for this sport. You’re on your way, and im barely starting.
I too respect anyone stepping in the cage because it isn’t an easy sport…you gotta love the game in order to succeed in MMA. Those fighters looking to get rich and famous will not go far, and im sure you know this man.
As to Eric, as a fan of mma and a future fighter…step it up amigo…test yourself, dont fight low tier guys and stay a low tier fighter, you’ll never improve that way. Theres potential for everyone in the sport..you gotta want it.

Some serious talent at the ammy level these days…some of these matches looked like pro fights. I remember when renegades and young guns were still up and running, the quality of talent, and the skill set of some of these ammy’s is getting scary good. I love it.

No worries man. I know times are tough. I work 60 hours a week, sometimes more. I train 5 – 6 days a week on top of that. I have a house and a pregnant wife that’s about to give birth in a month. I have a lot of shit going on, but still make sure to make the time to crush it out in the gym. If it truly is a passion, and it truly is something you want, then do it.
I fight because I have to. I have so much hate and rage inside of me. I want to destroy everything all the time. i want to take a baseball bat and smash in people’s faces. Training at the gym I train at alleviates those desires. Fighting in that cage made me high as a kite. And it’s not even because i won. It’s the fight. The smashing.

I invite you to the gym and get a first hand feel of this sport, my gut feeling is anyone who talks crap about a man in that cage and never been there wont last 1 round with Eric or many other Silverbacks. Dude either you cant read Karl or are easily butt hurt…but not once did I dog on Silverback. Yeah the dude works hard and yeah he steps into the cage and fights, and not once did I question his manhood….my hats off to him for that. And I wasn’t talking crap, I was stating my opinion. Again I know Coach Tony brings out amazing fighters…but I dont have to be a “MAN” to train at Silverback or do MMA. If you love the game and have heart, you’ll succeed with anyone and with any gym, Thats my philosophy.
As I told Friedman, give me a chance to train, I know the game already believe me, I can make 170-185 easily, and I’ll make sure Eric is my first fighter. I dont see him going pro anytime soon.
And yes completely agree with Levi and Jace, the talent pool in this city is growing considerably. Some of these guys look like they belong in the pro rankings already, Levi go pro already lol.

I have great respect to all cage fighters except Tito….just cant stand em but ppl who have been through the ropes in the streets and i tell you i have, have room to talk. Im cutting weight to train and fight in the cage. love the sport. Its more than just hands being thrown its technique and perfection. I could only go on orever. But Eric has potential just doesnt use his body to it. He really could be a way better and WAY SMARTER fighter. But my respects to him fighting at all…
