If you didn’t make it out to Puro Combate 2, you not only missed being a part of history, but you also missed some really great fights. Not only was PC2 the first Pro Muay Thai show not just in Houston, it was also the first pro Muay Thai card in the state. The action was non stop all night long, and there was not a boring fight all night.
The first fight of the night (Lopez vs Simpson) set the tone for the evening. It was a flat out brawl that could have won fight of the night had it been a bit more technical. Ultimately Lee King and Jesus Rivera would win our TCD.net Fight of the Night honors with not only some great fighting, but some pretty technical Muay Thai. Winning our KO of the Night honors was Hurricane Ike Villanueva who put Houston on notice that he was back after winning in devastating fashion over Daniel Gipson.
All in all it was a great night of fights. James Gratz and Rocky Long really delivered with some exciting fights. Look for Puro Combat 3 some time in December, where we’ll see Jason David Frank climb back in the cage for his second pro fight.
You can review the round by round play by play of the fights here.
