Garcia Promotions has taken it to the next level. Houston witnessed one of the best amateur shows to date with Cage Combat 4 Saturday night at the Humble Civic Center.
The main event of the evening crowned a new flyweight champion, but more importantly showed us that Jacob Silva is quite possibly the most exciting fighter in the city. His motor was going full bore against Manny Lozoya for two and a half rounds before he finished the fight via TKO. I really can’t say enough about the performance for Silva, who completely dominated Lozoya, who is the 4th ranked amateur in our latest rankings.
Silva wasn’t the only winner from Silverback MMA , as their camp went 5-1 on the night. One of those 5 was our Made to Win Fight of the Night performance, put on by David Armas and Andrew Muzquiz. The two went back in forth for 3 thrilling rounds before Armas walked out with the split decision victory.
Tony Orozco, Jr. went to 3-0 as an amateur, winning a hard fought battle against Randy McCullough. Orozco maintained his poise even when cornered, proving that he is a lot further along in his development than you would expect for a 17 year old.
Levi West was victorious once again, this time handling Eric Thompson en route to a lopsided unanimous decision. West will fight again in three weeks at the Legacy Amateur Series against the experienced (and very tough) Kevin Thomas.
Charley Witbeck won our Made to Win submission of the night, by catching Zack Scalf in a rear naked choke early in round 1. The win is Whitbeck’s first of his amateur career.
Knock out of the night (sponsored by Made to Win) went to Nathan Flack. Flack dropped Daniel Everitt at 1:02 in the first with a devistating left hook.
Other winners on the night included Ryan Rivera (RNC Rd 1), John Rodriguez (Un. Dec.), Carlos Jiminez (TKO Rd 1), James Gonzalez (KO Rd 1), and Jeremy Hunter.
Congrats to all the winners and to Garcia Promotions for putting on such a thrilling card.
