(Houston, TX) – Well that didn’t take long. Just 24 hours after learning that Todd Moore was not going to be able to make his fight with Mike Bronzoulis at Shark Fights on March 11, TheCageDoor.net has learned that Lucas Lopes (20-11) has been named as the replacement fighter for Moore.
Lopes, who fights out of Finney’s MMA in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, brings an impressive resume into the fight. Though riding a 3 fight losing streak, Lopes has made 3 appearances at Strikeforce, going 2-1 in those fights. His last fight was against Cortez Coleman at the Strikeforce: Henderson vs Babalu 2 back in December of 2010, a fight he lost via guillotine choke in the first. Lopes also has a win over Thiago Alves back in 2001.
When asked about the roller coaster ride of having 3 opponents in 3 weeks, Bronzoulis said, “I was only frustrated because I was worried they wouldn’t have another opponent for me by next week. I just told myself that I had to stay positive and to have faith that it would all work out. I kept the faith and sure enough, somebody stepped up, so I am thankful for that.”
“Now it’s even better because I am not fighting somebody from Texas. No offense against Todd Moore because he is a great opponent and a great fighter, but I am tired of fighting guys from Texas. I’ve beaten the best in the state but now I’m ready to take on the best from around the country,” he added.
The fight is scheduled to take place at Shark Fights 14 in Lubbock, Tx on March 11 and will air on HDNet.
