A very familiar face in the Houston MMA scene, is referee Randy Hauer. Hauer, himself, has been out of the fight game since 2007, sidelined by injury. Not one to rest on his laurels and shy away from the limelight, Randy Hauer has been refereeing fights during his recuperation and rehabilitation.
I’m sure many people on the Houston scene don’t realize the caliber of opponents Hauer has actually faced in the past, his record may be 7-11, but when you look at who he’s fought, Clay Guida, Spencer Fisher, Carlos Condit, and not to mention his WEC bout against Razor Rob McCullough. Hauer also has a solid background, having wrestled for the University of Minnesota, from what I am told he started MMA training with Sean Sherk, before moving to Las Vegas to pursue his fight career. Through his associations he found his way to Houston, and Metro Fight Club. Hauer went and trained at Paradigm for a period of time, but is now back at Metro and ready to fight.
On Saturday 23rd July, Randy is set to face off against Sam Ortiz at Rich Clementi’s Gladiator Challenge, which I believe will be a televised event. TCD.net would like to send Houston’s adopted son, Randy Hauer and best wishes for the fight.
