(Houston, TX) – Sources have informed TheCageDoor.net that Houston fighter Chad “Robo” Robichaux, fresh off signing his 3 fight deal with Shine Fights, is rumored to be facing Japanese sensation Takafumi Otsuka on the March Shine PPV card in Las Vegas, Nevada. (EDITORS NOTE: We have now confirmed the fight. Both fighters have signed, so it is now official).
Robo, 8-0 as a pro, will face his toughest challenge yet when steps into the cage with Otsuka. ”I think it will be a war and very very exciting. I’m very motivated and confident.” the 135lb Legacy FC champion said. Robo, a black belt under Carlos Gracie Jr., has won all 8 of his pro fights via submission and will not doubt look to get Otsuka to the ground early and often.
Takafumi Otsuka (9-4-1) is ranked #1 in Japan among 145lb fighters and recently defeated Dokonjonosuke Mishima to win the DEEP 145lb title. He’s a non-stop action fighter who goes 100% all the time. If this fight does happen, it will be Otsuka’s United States debut and his first ever at 135lbs.

oh…. damn, that should be great. I saw robo at Legacy. He was the main event against some cocky dude from oklahoma screaming he was 7-0 and going to take robos head home and hang it in his trophy case with his belt. boy got handled up. robo made him look like an ammetuer and took him out in less than 2 minutes. let us see what this guy came bring from the homeland of the arts!
bro… that fight was electric. Legacy sold that place out and i think every single person there was yelling robo when he came out, really cool. but i looked up otsutka, he is hella tuff. i think robo will finally get a good test.
Yeah, otsuka is for real. Dude is top fighter from japan, deep champ, and winner over mishima. no doubt he will push robo. but at 135??? i don’t know robo isn’t getting submitted and is probably has one of the toughest warrior mindsets i have seen in mma. i see these to voiding each other out and beating the shit out of each other for 3 rounds. cant wait! hehehe…
The Shine promoter (Ron Foster) has said there’s a good chance it ends up on the PPV.
He also said it could be fight of the night.
I have no doubt in my mind this will be the fight of the year. These two guys are STUDS and are soooo well rounded and athletic, it is impossible for this not to be a sick fight.
Tickets on sale yet? where?
where is it?
yeah, i heard that to. i heard it would be one of the 5 schedule ppv bouts. that’s smart, it isn’t to often you get a top guy from Japan in the states to compete against one of our top guys. but, it may be a common thing soon. otsuka is coming, now gomi, and aioki
didn’t robichauxs team mate fight aioki in dream?
This fight will have the energy and skill, definitely worth the PPV. Also be interesting to see how Otsuka reacts to his first US showdown. Homefield advantage takes this one. Good to see these caliber of fights on the new Shine promotion!!!!!!
All the top Japanese guys tend to fall short when they fight in the U.S. for one reason or another. There still is the inner need for a fighter to prove himself to himself at that level in the American shows, hence, the few that have fought in the WEC and UFC with not much ultimate success.
Robos fight with Otsuka would allow the Japanese fighters to enter at the ground level of a brand new organization and make a footprint. It will be a great fight and it should DEFINETLY be a televised undercard event. Even though Robo will continue thr American trend, the Japanese market would open up as their fighters are being exposed to US ppv events.
yeah… definately interest to see how otsuka carries over to the USA and to a lighter weight of 135. he was big at 145. maybe he’ll be better or it might hurt him too.
Robo is a beast at 135! i saw a pic of him at wiegh in last time… he looked like a skinned deer he was so ripped. at the fight he looked like a different person.
i just hope otsuka will give his samurai scream! in DREAM Bibliano hurt him with a knee in the face… he stepped back with a bloody mouth and nose and yelled a war cry.. it was awesome. true warrior. this is a great match
Lets put it this way no need to renew visa
he want be here that long after ROBO is his
first fight in the US
Geat Fight
I need to be their
Going to be war
yeah that is going to be a good one. this shine should make this fill a title since both of these guys are accomplished fighters and title holders in major global organizations… somebody should let shine know what kind of match they really have sitting in there lap. to say i am excited to see this one is an understatement.
Robo armbar rnd 1… same story, new opponent. high caliber guy but will go down just the same.
yeah james… not gonna happen that easy. otsuka is top 10 in the world!!! i think robo can pull it off but i don’t see this ending in rnd 1 by any means. either way. i agree with DR, these two are going to beat the hell out of each other at 1,000mph for 3 rounds. going to be great
my daddy is going to win BIG TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
is this for the shine belt? i know they are both belt holders in other organizations right? big show, big fight, two worthy athletes…
oh and that is cool robos daughter cheerleader on here.
so what is the date? where is the event? tickets on sale yet? am i missing something here.
@frankthetank
No, this is not for a belt.
@Hanz
I don’t know if tickets are on sell yet. The date thus far is March 6th. If the fight is NOT on the PPV, then the prelim fights will be carried live on the Shine website (www.shinefights.com). You should also check their site for ticket info.
this bout not on the main card would be a crime… for real!
It will be one of the PPV live bouts…yessurr.
HUGE step up in competition from his last opponent. Good luck to Robo!
yes it is, this is the level robo belongs at! great match up shine!
Kill it Robo… I have no doubt. We support you down here in Florida! Represent war dawg.
it will be a great fight as once the cage door shuts we know robo will show the world that the woodlands is home to one badass 135 fighter that not only has family and friends in his corner but also has god with him in that ring as well all i can say robo everyone at graciebarra will be rooting you on to your next win bring us a win coach
heard this fight was pushed back to April because the ppv network didn’t want to run in the same month as the Manny vs Maywether boxing fight. March or April, who cares, can’t wait to see it and see Robo get what he’s worked so hard for.
