Robo gets new opponent – Otsuka out Ortega in

Chad Robo

(Houston, Tx) – Since signing with Shine fights back in November 2009, Chad Robo has seen several potential opponents and fight dates come and go, but don’t blame Robo, all he wants to do is fight. “I’m just ready to get in the cage”, Robo said during a phone conversation last week.

Robo was slated to fight Deep veteran Takafumi Otsuka in April of this year, but the card got pushed back to May 15th . The date change forced Otsuka to have to back out of his fight with Robo due to previous commitments with Deep.

Frank Ortega

Enter another Texas fighter, Frank Ortega.  Fighting out of Dallas, Ortega has amassed a 4-2 record as a pro in 12 months.  He fights out of Star BJJ/Mezger Combat and is trained by former UFC champ Guy Mezger.

Ortega’s biggest challenge to date came against 7-4 Francisco Barragan at SWC 9 – Redemption, where he lost via TKO/RSC early in the third round.

“He seems like more of a stand up fighter, and it’s no secrete what I’m going to go in there and try and do, so I’m sure he’s going to be working on his take down defense more than normal. “ Robo said of Ortega.

You can catch the Robo/Ortega fight on Saturday May 15, 2010, live on pay per view.  The card gets underway at 8pm CT. has also been given a sneak peek into Robo’s fight promo video for the Shine Pay Per View event.
