Houston Goes 4-1, Black wins title in Louisiana
Several Houston area fighters including Alex Black and Gerzan Chow made the trip out to Houma, La to compete at at Caged Combat 7. Black’s fight was for the 145 lb title. Black won via flying arm bar early in the second round. Video of the fight can be seen on his site, here.

Martinez Drops A Tough One
Houston’s own Alex “Baby Boom” Martinez lost a tough battle at Texas Rage in the Cage 9 on October 2nd in Harlingen, TX. The loss moves Martinez’s record to 1-2. Baby Boom looks to bounce back when he squares off against Martin Garcia at Cage Combat 1 in Humble on Dec. 2nd. The fight will be a rematch as the two first fought back in Sept. 2009. Martinez bested Garcia in that fight, winning a split decision.
Houston MMA Fights Breast Cancer
The Houston MMA community came together and as a group raised $1445 for the Susan G Komen Race for the Cure event. Along with raising money, the MMA scene also joined together to run in the Race for the Cure. Check out a video recap of the event here.
