Hoger taps Poff

Sam Hoger (Hoger MMA) traveled up to Fort Wayne, Indiana to face off against ex WEC vet Jody Poff and left the Hoosier state with a victory.  Hoger won via arm triangle at just 50 seconds into the first round.  Hoger moes to 10-4 as pro.

Verdin wins Debut

Edgar Verdin (Submission Boxing Academy) won his pro debut as a boxer, scoring a 1st round KO. (Results unoffical and unconfirmed at this time).

Macias downs Jones

Anthony Macia made quick work of Ox Jones at XKO 7, winning via guillotine choke in the first round. (thanks to the guys over at for the resutls.)

Muay Thai Returns to Houston

The second Legacy FC Muay Thai card is only days aways. Details Here. (Psst, just between us, the rumor is that is going to be streaming the fights LIVE!)

BJJ Worlds

Info about Houston area players has been slow to come in, but here is what we know so far:

  • Jason Soliz (Sugarland MMA) finished 4th
  • Frost Murphy (Elite MMA) lost to Roger Gracie in the BJJ open and lost in the second round of his weight class to Kayron Gracie.
  • Jordan Rivas (Elite MMA) lost to Bernardo Farias


Help bring the WEC to Houston!

AMP energy and the WEC are having a contest to see what city will win a WEC event this December.  Houston is currently 7th in the voting, falling 3 spots after the first couple of days of voting.  Signinup and voting is easy, and each contestant can vote up to 10 times per day.  For details, click here

Houston MMA gets more exposure!

We are very excited to announce our new partnership with The Houston Chronical and it’s MMA Blog “Brawl Sports”. Starting June 9, 2010, we’ll be providing news and info about the Houston MMA scene that will be published every Wednesday. This is not just great exposure for our site, but for the entire Houston MMA scene. Special thanks to Jeremy Botter for helping make this happen!!

New 4oz gym opening soon

As announced in our forums, 4oz’s new gym will be opening on June 15th of this month. It is located right past Jones Rd. on FM 1960 at 10541 W. FM 1960, Houston, TX 77070


Rumor has it that…

  • …as we reported last week, Strikeforce is coming to H-Town. The date we’ve heard and seen is August 21, 2010.
  • …Saul Soliz is the new match maker for the WGC, replacing James Gratz after just one show.
