When Bellator returns to Texas is September, it will once again showcase some of Texas (and Houston’s) best fighters. CageDoor- Just a little curious as to the reason “PuroCombate” is not getting much news or talk-about here on the site!
As far as getting the Houston MMA scene *out there* I do believe that any and every event that is goin on should have more than just a little recognition.
The calendar event does not even have information for this fight on August 4th. Could it be possible to have some information about the event here on CageDoor.net?

Hi Barber and welcome to the site. I try not to defend every criticism that is made of our site, but I think this brings up a very good point and should be addresses. So here goes:
1. The event is in fact on our calendar, on Aug. 4th, listed as Puro Combate. If you hold your mouse over the event, you’ll see the card information and address to the venue.
2. Rich and I still hold down full time jobs along with the work we do running this site. Because of that, we have very strict and tight schedules that require weeks if not months of planning in advance. Unfortunately, in some cases information isn’t provided to us within a time frame that allows us to do the things we need to do (such as interviews and breakdowns) to provide the level of coverage that you guys have come to expect from us.
3. In order for us to put an event on the front of the site, we MUST have artwork in the proper format, and unfortunately we were not able to obtain it from the promoters.
4. Even though one of their main sponsors is a direct competitor of ours, we still plan to cover the fights (including live play by play and post fight interviews and analysis). Perhaps they have the coverage you are looking for.
I hope this clarifies things for you, and thanks again for stopping by and supporting Houston MMA.

Barry, thanks for clearing it up. I really wasn’t trying to criticize your site at all! In fact, I love the site. My concern was having Puro Combate, as well as any MMA, etc. event be put on the site to try to expand and get up and coming promotions get a little recognition.
I did click on the Puro Combate event but it said nothing was available.
As far as you guys obtaining certain information, well excuse my ignorance if that’s the case.
Honestly, didnt know that much had to be put into it.
Again, thanks for responding.

No problem Barber. The usual issue we run into is people not providing us the information in a proper amount of time. All of our interviews are done in person usually at the fighters gym. That means we have to drive to wherever they are located. When you factor in drive time, photo’s , the interview, editing the interview and the pictures and uploading you can see how we spend man hours on just one.
To be able to offer the quality we do we need the promoters and fighters alike to keep us informed of events and fight cards. Getting a fight card to us 1 week before your event does not allow time for us to really do anything. We also have certain requirements for the front page banners. If the promotion cannot send us the proper format and information we need then we are not going to post the event on the front page.
It’s great to see new promotions starting up and I hope we can work together to garner them the attention they deserve but its a two way street. I noticed no one had even mentioned the Puro fight card in our forums until July 20th. The forums can be a great tool to build up excitement for an event but with all the fighters and promoters involved in the Puro event combined they managed to mention there own event just one time. You would think there would have been more excitement between the people involved.I’m not trying to slam them at all and hope I have not. We are still planning to cover the event and we will do predictions as usual. Thanks for supporting the site Barber.
