A couple of years back Franchize Sports (FS Fight Gear) and DFC (Damage Fight Company) started what they called “MMA Covering Houston”. They got a lot of the local gyms to act as drop off points for blankets, which they in turn donated to the homeless.
Their first event was a success. If you recall, they had Artenas Young, Derrick Lewis, Levi West and others to help out. Their first set of donated blankets went to the Star of Hope Downtown. They came back a year later and did a clothing and blanket drive.
This year the two companies are at it again and are looking to put together a clothing and toy drive for Christmas so that they can donate clothes and toys to the homeless children in Houston.
“We found in our first two runs that there are lots of homeless children and its really sad to see. We are going to set donation points at local gyms and business’ if possible. Whatever money we collect we will buy toys and what toys we collect we will also donate,” Michael Rodriguez, co-founder of MMA Covering Houston said.
Their target donation location is the family shelter in downtown Houston.
They are looking for volunteers to help out with and gyms to act as drop off points. If you can, email email@example.com to commit to helping.
