Bronzoulis to Face Villefort on HDNet in March

The past couple of months have been really good to Mike Bronzoulis.  After suffering a loss in his Legacy FC title fight back in March, Bronzoulis refocused himself and has rattled off 3 straight wins since then; including winning that elusive Legacy FC belt and then defending it in his latest dominating victory of the highly regarded Joe “Jitsu” Christopher.  Bronzoulis, who currently sits atop the Welterweight division in Houston, is making waves on the national scene and is currently ranked by FightMatrix as the #79 Welterweight in the country.

All of this has not gone unnoticed by promoters and now Bronzoulis has a chance to show the nation what he brings to the cage. Bronzoulis told me yesterday that he recently has a verbal agreement with Shark Fights to fight Yuri Villefort (6-0-0) in Dallas. The fight is scheduled to air live on HDNet on March 11, 2011.

“My manager called and asked what I thought about fighting on TV on HDNet. I thought he was messing with me,” Bronzoulis said talking about how he found out about the fight.

When I asked what it felt like getting the opportunity to fight on national TV, Bronzoulis responded, “I was super excited.  It doesn’t seem real. My whole life I’ve wanted this, it’s been a life long dream and it’s all coming together. Sometimes it seems like everything you try and do just doesn’t work out, but this time it all fits.  I feel like even my losses were meant to happen. Everything that has happened has lead me to this point in my career. It feels great!”

Villefort is a well rounded black belt who trains out of American Top Team in Florida. This will no doubt be Villefort’s toughest test in his young career. He did fight Frank Carrillo (2-0 with Bellator), but that was Carrillo’s first fight as a pro back in 2009.

Both Villefort and Bronzoulis have a common opponent in Josh Lee and both beat Lee via TKO (Punches) in the second round of their respective fights.

“I want everyone in Houston to know that I’m having a viewing part at Big Woodrow’s on Chimney Rock for this fight. EVERYONE is invited.  The whole upstairs is rented out just for the fight,” Bronzoulis said.

As for what’s next for “The Greek”?  Bronzoulis wasn’t exactly sure, but he did mention that there might be the possibility of a UFC fight for him this summer.
