In a story first reported by AJ Hoffman at the Houston MMA Examiner (and later confirmed by Justin Bailey with BJPenn.com), Houston’s Charles “Da Bronx” Oliveira was given a deal for 4 more fights in the UFC on Friday.
Oliveira had gone a perfect 2-0 in the UFC, building a lot of buzz around his potential at 155 before losing to Jim Miller at UFC 124 in December. The extension helped to kill any doubt he had about whether he belong in the UFC, “I am very happy about the extension,” Oliveira told Hoffman.
“They have been cutting so many 155 pounders, I am very blessed to have a job for 2011,” he added.
Oliveira trains out of Gold Team Houston with UFC vet Jorge “Macaco” Patino.
