Adam Schindler, formerly of Houston and now fighting out of Austin, lost a closely contested decision in his return to Bellator against unbeaten Jeremy Spoon. Schindler was in the cage for the first time since losing via knockout to Ronnie Mann in the Bellator featherweight tournament in June.
Schindler took the fight on short notice and cut 20 lbs. in just over a week to compete. Adam controlled the first round with his wrestling, taking Spoon’s back at one point. His wrestling was better than Spoon’s throughout the match, but Spoon outboxed Schindler, especially in the second and third rounds. The judges’ cards had it 30-27, 29-28 and 29-28 for Spoon.
The loss dropped Schindler to 9-3 overall and 1-2 in Bellator.
