Over the last 8 days or so Mick Maynard and crew have been busy bolstering their roster of fighters for the growing promotion. Last week on Inside MMA it was announced that LFC had signed Daniel Pineda to a multi-fight contract. Pineda (14-7) holds both the 145lb and 155lb titles and has been poised to make a splash in the UFC should they come calling. Pineda is on a roll, having defeated highly touted Frank Gomez back at LFC 7. He now gets ready to face Gilbert Jiminez in December at LFC 9 (live on HDNet).
On the same day that they announced the Pineda signing, LFC also announced that they had inked Freddy Assuncao (5-1) to a multi-fight deal. if the name Assuncao sounds familiar, it’s because he’s the brother of UFC veterans Raphael and Junior. He defeated Baz Cunningham via TKO in the first round of his last fight, but perhaps his most notable win came against former UFC and WEC vet Kit Cope.
Today on the promotion announced another big signing, TUF alum Carson Beebe. Beebe, like Assuncao, is the the brother of a well known fighter; in this case former WEC champion Chase Beebe. The fighter known as “Little Juggernaut” brings with him an 8-1 record and an appearance (all be it a very brief one) on The Ultimate Fighter Season 14 (yes, the current one). Beebe was denied entry into the house by Texas’ own Johnny Bedford. Bedford defeated Beebe via guillotine and turned some heads on the season’s opener. Beebe has been a regular on the Chicago MMA scene since turning pro and now looks to make a splash here in Houston.
“We started signing multi-fight deals last year for a few people, but now that we are being broadcast on HDNet, it has driven us to move even further into that direction,” Maynard told MMA Junkie about the signings.
“We want to establish our own stable of exciting fighters that fans can get to know and look forward to watching on a regular basis,” he added.
