NOTE – We have updated the card to reflect the fact that one of the title fights was excluded from the original list.
Legacy Fighting Championships has posted up thee fight card for their January 21, 2012 Amateur Show and it looks like they plan to open 2012 with a bang!
For starters there are 3 scheduled title fights. The card features a good mix of strikers, outstanding BJJ players and some of Houston’s best and most well rounded amateur MMA fighters.
BJJ stud Robert Yamishita returns to the cage to face Kaileb Cummings for the 185lb title. Roberto Sanchez is also back in action and looks to hand Ramiro Cortino his first loss as he looks to defend his title for the first time since capturing it from Manny Lozoya in October. Ryan Hollis and Ricky Turcios clash in a 125lb title fight that will no doubt turn into a stand up war (and in this writers estimation, probably won’t go the distance).
Don’t expect all of these fights to make it, in fact it’s a safe bet that no more than 12 of them will make the card. That said, It’s a safe bat the the first 5 or 6 will be on the card for sure.
In the end, who ever makes the final card will be eligible to earn some points in the 2012 Legacy Amateur Series Tournament. If you recall, Legacy announced the points based tournament back on Nov. 12. The tournament is essentially a points system that will reward fighters for wins, dynamic performances and more. The final point systems has not been completed yet but will be in place before this card takes place on Jan. 21 of next year.
Speaking of the tournament, TCD will be teaming up with Legacy and will have a running scoreboard of the tournament on the site that will be updated after every event!
