Breaking News: July Legacy Card Taking Shape

Written By: Barry Laminack

As of today, we know of 4 match-ups that will be taking place on the next Legacy card on July 16, 2011.

Chad Robo vs Humberto DeLeon was leaked by Robo’s management a few days ago. This will be a rematch of the Strikeforce fight that took place back in August of 2010 here in Houston. Robo won the fight, but was tested by the tough DeLeon.

On Saturday (May 14) Match Maker Colling Cantrell brought Jason David Frank into the ring to announce the winner of the contest LEgacy wal holding to allow the fans to pick the controversal fighters next opponent. It was revealed that Hoger MMA’s Shawn Machado will be facing the former power ranger in July. An intersting sub-plot to the fight is that Machoda beat Silverback coach Tony Orozco is his last fight. This is interesting because Frank now trains at Silverback (and is coached by) Orozco.

After the May 14 card, Cantrell also announced that a couple of high level MMA veterans will be squaring off in the bayou city.  Carlo Prater will be facing T.U.F. alum Efrain Escudero in the main event of the July 16 card. Originally Prater was scheduled to fight Daniel Pineda for the 155lb title. No word on why that fight didn’t make.

The most recent leaked fight is a title fight between 4oz Fight Clubs Steve Garcia and Angel Huerta. Huerta mentioned it on his Facebook and it was later confirmed by Legacy promoter Mick Maynard. This fight has been in the works for a while now. As both fighters sit at the top of the 135lb division in Houston. Garcia is ranked #3 and Huerta is ranked #2.

Legacy Match Maker Collin Cantrell will be joining us on our weekly podcast to reveal the majority of the card as it stands right now, so make sure you check out the podcast section of our website on Tuesday.
