TheCageDoor.net has learned that the Jason David Frank vs Shawn Machado fights is all but off of the July 22 Legacy blockbuster card.
Word came down that Frank suffered a possible bicep tear and could be out of action over the next several months. His teammate, Patrick Hutton, suffered the same injury in his bout against Patrick Bierschwhale at Legacy FC 6 in April of this year..
Mick Maynard of Legacy confirmed the news and said that they are waiting to hear back from the doctor on the results. If things go well, the fight could be post-poned until September.
Despite losing this fight, Legacy FC 7 is still one of the best fight cards the bayou city has ever seen, with no less than 7 fights all having main card potential and three of those that could be a main event on most nights.
Here is the current card as of June 1:
190lbs – Tony Orozco vs David McClung
145lbs – Cody Phillips vs Shelby Sheehan
155lbs – #8 Justin Reiswerg vs #7 Marc Ramires
155lbs – #10 Lee Higgins vs Scotty Juarez
170lbs – Craig Gardner vs #6 John Malbrough
155lbs – #5 Jesus Rivera vs #9 Rey Trujillo
135lbs – #1 Chad Robichaux vs Jonathan Mackles
135lbs – #2 Angel Huerta vs #3 Steve Garcia (For the vacant Legacy Bantamweight Title)
145lbs – #1 Daniel Pineda vs Frank Gomes (Featherweight Title fight)
170lbs – #2 Brian Melancon vs Pete Spratt
155lbs – Carlo Prater vs Cameron Dollar (Super Fight)

The attempted spelling in the thread is pretty amazing. Some people should just not type ever again.
This is an amazing card, cant wait
To jdf, im sorry for your injury and sorry for opening my mouth with out waiting to see if you had proof. Still mad, because this would have helped both of us. So my crying is over and your healing just started. Heal up and when you get ready for your next fight —if you let I will come sbcamp and sparrtrain, to help you get ready ( and yes I will let all of y’all there have a crack at me – but “no ” biting tony……) sorry again for my mouth. Good luck
No Escudero, the Mike B. vs Pete Spratt fight was never signed, now no JDF? Hope you guys don’t have anymore injuries and can salvage what is left of the remaining fight card. War Huerta!
@Shawn, the fight isnt cancelled, only postponed. As far as the fight card goes I think its outstanding, but I am slightly biased. We replaced Mike B. with Brian Melancon and Efrain with another former UFC vet that is on a five fight winning streak. If anyone has questions or concerns though please email me at mick@legacyfights.tv. I gave up watching or reading the news and it has been good so I am going to try the same thing with forums.
I was disappointed that Legacy never signed the advertised Spratt vs Bronzoulis fight. Very happy though that Mike B is finally off the small local shows! I hope you have no more promblems and are able to patch up this fight card. War Huerta!
Jeramiah- i dont see any patching required…perhaps you aren’t familier with the talants who are on the card. And just like every UFC card which undergoes some changes…there are changes here. its to be expected by anyone who is realistic and familier with the workings of MMA promotions. Meloncon vs spratt is equally as good a fight and the fact that Efrain pulled can’t be helped. He was replaced with another UFC vet and the matchups on the card are outstanding. Really pumped to see Daniel Pineda at it with this level of competition.
LOL @ Jeremiah…”small local shows”. Nice attempt with the backhanded slap, but it didn’t work. Legacy isn’t a “small local show”, make sure you pay your cable bill so you can see it live on HDnet on July 22nd. They don’t put “small local shows” on HDnet.
This kind of gets tiring, what the hell happened to mma?? Now its people bash the fighters, people bash the promotions, people bash the websites that report on the local news… and all the time contributing absolutely nothing themselves.
Houston is very lucky to have Legacy and Garcia promotions, most areas dont have good promotions or regular fights… part of the success we’ll see for local fighters comes from the fighters actually being able to fight regularly due to local promotions…sure they have to be good to go anywhere, or at least know the right people…
I genuinely hope Jeremiah is just trolling…
MiCK, in jdf video…he said the recovery was 6mo / put 3mo to train after — that’s 9mo ( sorry I can not wait that long to fight again ) you have been good to me, but I need to make my record the best it can be, hopefully . It will b good enough that u will want to make the jamie fight r some like that. With a couple more fight under me jdf and I will never happen ……if u would like talk to me call me at the school im there at 12 – 2 / 5:30-8 iwould love to talk …..thanks again guys and mick for everyone sticking up for me and putting my name in the mixs
well jdf had a lot more ammy fights than you did machado, maybe he and his camp will be willing to fight you still after a couple more fights go on your record, but waiting a year for a fight pretty much is out of the question for any pro fighter
@Silverback David…if you read all the posts you would realize a mistake was made and they posted Tony JR as fighting at 190 instead of Tony SR. at the catchweight of 175. Stop assuming everyone is against you guys. It is not always the case.
This was a fight I wanted to see… Regardless of the jokes I may pull on JDF from time to time the guy has incredible legs and moves fast as hell, say what you may about his previous fights but the guy is a beast from all that I saw in the cage back when he was at Streamline with Rocky and Ike… I wish him and Machado the best and still cant wait to see the Legacy card come the 22nd… If people dont know who is on this card they need to pay more attention to Houston MMA…. Its gonna be one hell of a night!
@Shawn, let me check with JDF but i know he is hoping for September. Hopefully I can keep my self away from these forums after this but once again someone is implying we advertised a fight that wasn’t agreed to. Many promotions do not even use contracts, if you wait for contracts to be sent in you may never announce a fight card. We use them not only to protect ourselves and the fighters. Ask the local Houston fighters at what point they got their contract from Strikeforce when they came to Houston.
Mike B. agreed to the fight and had a contract in hand for the Pete Spratt fight but he received word he may be on Strikeforce so we agreed the fight was his unless he got the call from Zuffa……..and he did. We are trying to help people get to Zuffa, not hold them back.
*to protect ourselves and the fighters
As you all know Jason Frank is my best friend and teamate and partner with Jesus Didnt Tap, he was really still gonna try to fight on july with injury because he didnt want to let people down and thats just how tough he really is, but with him having had same injury before and myself just dealing with it and knowing how painful it was and not completely having a bicep after surgery sucks with the talk of people who really love him and care about him adviced him to build it and sit out and fight when injury was healed properly. You have to rebuild it from scratch, its like a babies arm lol, he actually did it the same day I had a piece of my disc in my back break off and sit like its on a camping trip on my syaddic nerve he carried me into the ER with it, been out for the last month and scheduled surgery june 16 and I am hoping to get back in the cage in the fall and JDF should be ready few months after me since I did mine a little bit before him. I really want to say much respect to Machado for being really cool about this and being really respectfull about it and I think Machado should get a shot to still fight on the card, injuries happen so much in this game and not by anybody’s will, look how many UFC fights get cancelled do to injury. Everyone one of us who fights is tough and if we pull out do to injury you should always give the fighter the benefit of th doubt, and thanks to everyone posting on this forum because everyone is being really cool about this and I think they know the game enough to understand that injuries are a big part of it. Mick and Legacy are really good guys! Always done me right and show lots of love and I think they will do right by Machado and let him fight on his TV spot. Much love and respect to everyone involved in our MMA world, fighter, promoter, columist, fan, etc. Cant wait to get back in the cage when healthy and JDF feels the same. Thanks and God bless Patrick
Sometime you don’t have to know someone……..to c that they r cool people. Good luck with both of y’all on your healing up……istill say when you and him get better let’s crosstrain— it helps all of us thank you again
i totally agree buddy you are so right shawn, would love to cross train and help you anyway that i can and visa versa brother. thanks for the support on recovery and i hope you get your chance on tv buddy
Ya’ll get better quick Pat. Looking forward to seeing you guys soon!
