(Houston, TX) – The crew at Legacy has informed TheCageDoor.net that Andrew Craig will be replacing Artenas Young on their April 9th card. Young was set to take on Bubba Bush, but after signing a 2 fight deal with Shark Fights just 24 hours ago, that fight was scratched to avoid any scheduling conflicts that might occur.
“We’re very happy for Artenas but we had to move forward and continue to put forth the best card we can for our April 9th show. We think adding Andrew Craig does that for us,” said Legacy Fights owner Mick Maynard.
“If Artenas can avoid injury or any type of long term state mandated suspension there is a very good chance we can still have him compete on the card; with the possibility of getting a title shot later on,” he added.
When I spoke with Craig at the Cage Combat 2 weigh-ins he seemed to be looking forward to a break, but the opportunity for another belt seems to have overshadowed the chance to eat fast food and partake in an adult beverage or two.
“When Mick came to us with this match up, Andrew was very excited to fight again here in Houston for another title against another top opponent,” said Ragan McDaniel (B3 Sports), manager for Andrew Craig.
Craig (4-0) is ranked #2 in Houston and is coming of a dominating victory over the #1 ranked Jon Kirk at IXFA 6, where he captured the 185lb title via triangle choke in the second round.
Bush (2-0) is ranked #3 i Houston and turned in his own dominate performance when he beat #4 ranked Chris Spicer back in July 2010 at Legacy.
This fight will be for the currently vacant Legacy FC Middleweight title.
