Houston based Charles Oliveira, who trains under Gold Team patriarch and Legacy welterweight champion Jorge “Macaco” Patino, has lined up his next UFC opponent. Most surprisingly, it won’t be at 155 lbs. Oliveira had ignored pressure to move to 145 lbs. since debuting with the organization, but has seen mixed results as an undersized lightweight. After starting out 2-0 in the UFC, he has gone 0-2-1 in his last three, most recently being TKO’ed by Donald Cerrone.
According to sources, Charles will next take on Robert “Problems” Peralta at UFC Fight Night 26 in Nashville, TN on January 20th. Peralta fought on the undercard of the UFC on Fox event, winning by TKO over Mackens Semerzier. Semerzier is currently contesting the result, with replays showing an accidental head butt leading to the TKO. The win moved Peralta to 16-3 overall and 2-0 in the UFC. He also holds a win in Strikeforce over Dream champion Hiroyuki Takaya.
