Schindler has won six straight fights, and his record sits at 9-1 overall. The IXFA champion holds wins over Marc Ramirez, Justin Reiswerg, Lane Yarbrough and Brian Melancon. He has fought for both Bellator and Strikeforce.
His first round opponent, Ronnie Mann, is a British fighter who boasts a 19-2-1 record. He has won three straight since being submitted by Hatsu Hioki in the first round back in May of 2009. Only two of his fights have taken place in the United States, and most of his previous opponents carry a losing record.
“I think Ronnie Mann is a very tough opponent. I’m excited to fight him,” Schindler said. “I think it’s a very good match up for me. And I’m excited to show the world who Adam Schindler is, and what I’m about against a well known, well respected opponent. I’m here to win this tournament, nothing less. Ronnie Mann is my first step and all my attention and focus is on him right now. My training is going great. I just made weight last week and everything is going as planned, I’m already in great shape and getting better every day. This is the biggest fight of my life and I’m treating it as such. My eye is on the prize.”
Bellator 46 will take place June 25th at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, FL and will be broadcast on MTV-2. The other first round matchups pit Marlon Sandro against Genair da Silva, Pat Curran against Luis Palomino and Nazareno Malegarie against Jacob Devree.
Additionally, the card will feature Silverback Fight Club’s Derrick Lewis taking on Tony Johnson, Jr., a highly touted heavyweight whose one loss came to top Strikeforce prospect Daniel Cormier. Lewis was set to fight Thiago Santos at Bellator 45, but Santos pulled out due to injury.
