It’s time once again to take a look at how our local Houston area fighters stack up with other fighters from around the United States (and the world) so that means it’s time to take a look at the December 2011Fight Matrix rankings!
If you are not familiar with FightMatrix, it’s a website dedicated to ranking fighters world wide using a computerized scoring system to rank fighters. In fact, from their own website they describe it as follows, “The rankings presented are computerized and provided by the FightMatrix ranking system, which utilizes a comprehensive MMA fight database to provide objective rankings. Please note, that these rankings ONLY contain fighters who have had at least one professional fight some time in the 450 days prior to the ranking date.”
What follows is the fighters that fight, have fought or are scheduled to fight here in Houston. Here is a breakdown of what we found:
RED = Drop in Rankings
GREEN = Rise in Rankings
BLUE = Scheduled to Fight in Houston soon
BOLD = New to Rankings

Funny how Daniel wins and drops in rank. These things are odd. Still cool to see Houston guys on these list.
I noticed that too. They didn’t include his last fight, that’s probably why. They have his last fight as of 7/22. I’m sure when they add his fight agains Gilbert it will change.
The last I looked they hadn’t shown Daniels or or Derrick Lewis most recent fight. I think Derrick is ranked also
He’s not. I looked, double checked and even searched.
At any rate is is good so see Houston leaving a mark.
Ledet is fighting in Houston this month against the hurricane at IMKF2.
Thanks for the heads up and info Mick. I’ve updated the rankings to show Derrick’s ranking as a Heavyweight.
Not sure why they have him listed as Canadian, but that’s why I missed him. I filter by U.S. fighters only and then check for Houston guys.
Glad to see Matt Thompson in the rankings.But I think he should be higher,he’s one bad dude.Lets hope he can get promoters to put him on Houston cards (as he’s always trying to get on). Then you will see what I mean.
dropping to 125 now –(starting the crack diet ) tomorrow…..c y’all in march….if not look for me doing ur window at the stop light @*#&$%….congratulations to everyone m.g nation. My boy
It is great to see some Houston guys on the list but I am shocked by some of the fighters that are missing. Mick, keep up the great work and the HD Net coverage will help to get all of us the exposure that we need to crack this list. Can’t wait until Feb. 24th!
