It’s time once again to take a look at how our local Houston area fighters stack up with other fighters from around the United States (and the world) so that means it’s time to take a look at this months (September) Fight Matrix rankings! With the 2011 Q3 Houston MMA rankings coming out tomorrow, we wanted to get these in first.
If you are not familiar with FightMatrix, it’s a website dedicated to ranking fighters world wide using a computerized scoring system to rank fighters. In fact, from their own website they describe it as follows, “The rankings presented are computerized and provided by the FightMatrix ranking system, which utilizes a comprehensive MMA fight database to provide objective rankings. Please note, that these rankings ONLY contain fighters who have had at least one professional fight some time in the 450 days prior to the ranking date.”
What follows is the fighters that fight, have fought or are scheduled to fight here in Houston. Here is a breakdown of what we found:
RED = Drop in Rankings
GREEN = Rise in Rankings
|US Rank||World Rank||Previous
|Light Heavyweight (205)|
Fallen Off: Steve Garcia (Bantamweight), Ike Villanueva (Light Heavyweight), Matt Thompson (Heavyweight)
A HUGE congratulations goes out to Team Tooke’s Andrew Craig. His win over Eric Schambari at Legacy FC 8 moved him up into the top 25 Middleweights in the NATION and one of the top 50 middle weights in the world! Before that win, he was ranked 80th in the nation and 162nd in the world, so he took a gigantic leap forward in the rankings.

The 2011 Q3 Rankings will be released on September 30!!
