TheCageDoor.net was given a special invitation to attend the 5th annual Leonardo Xavier Jui-Jitsu Association Gathering on November 7, 2010. The event took place at the LX Jui-Jitsu American Headquarters in Sugarland, Texas. With affiliate schools located in Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, New York, Pennsylvania and Louisiana, this once a year event is a special time for Leonard Xavier and his students to get together and learn and share their successes from the previous year.
This year Xavier also brought in his friend, mentor and coach Royler Gracie to give a 2 hour seminar to all the LX Jui-Jitsu students in attendance. Along with spending time teaching BJJ to those in attendance, Gracie took extra time to spend with the younger member of the association, teaching them about the dangers of talking to strangers and what to do should they find themselves in a bad situation.
Also worthy of note is the remarkable humanitarian effort that this years gathering accomplished. La Costena, the LX Jiu-Jitsu Association, and Royler Gracie joined forces to donate a truckload of La Costena products to the Houston Food Bank. The special donation ceremony prefaced the LX Jiu-Jitsu Association’s annual gathering. All attendees were also encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to bolster the donation.
“We are excited that La Costena supported our food drive by donating their products to add to what our Association donates,” said Xavier. “Food donation is a noble cause, and I’m happy to share this endeavor with my teacher and friend, Royler Gracie.”
