Team Gacho, which will also be known as Chute Boxe-Macaco, held it’s grand opening on Saturday. The event featured seminars from Jorge “Macaco” Patino for gi, no-gi and kids. The gym itself is very family friendly. Owner Raul Jimenez is a father himself, and realizes that a lot of people want to train but don’t always have a place for their kids to go. “We have a lot of kids training here,” Jimenez said. “We have adult classes where the kids will sit and watch their parents train, and we have kid classes too. We have a place for them to be safely away from the training, but still feel involved.” His wife, Gabriela, and their children also train in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Jimenez has trained under Royce Gracie in the past, and currently is a purple belt under Macaco. “It was very important for me to be associated with Macaco. I spent time training in Brazil (Jimenez is from Ecuador), and he is an idol down there. Everyone knows him as the best. To have my gym affiliated with him and to be able to have him come and do seminars with us is a great honor.”

Congrats to Team Gacho and Raul Jimenez. I know that Raul has worked for a VERY long time to make this successful and it is past time for him to benefit the rewards. Take the time to go and visit Team Gacho and you’ll be impressed by the level of instruction that they have!!!

@George Thompson – Chute Boxe DOES exist (Ex.Cyborg, Werdum, Macaco, even Thiago Silva was CB until last year). Who is Macaco? Macaco is regarded by most of us (ChuteBoxe members) as one of the Greats & a person of high authority, as he is one of the last “Old-Schools” still competing (we both fought at King of Kombat Last weekend). Macaco is not a enemy of ChuteBoxe but he is a leader.
I cant say much for the “the guy who got KO’d bad at legacy”… But Macaco is not someone to take lightly and Neither is the Chute Boxe camp… I hope you dont take offense to my posting – Victor Pozas.

1st– I am not a fighter. I would be if I was younger but, I lost a leg in Afganistan serving our country! I am 43 and have been a fan of the sport since 1997.

Victor “Doidao” Pozas— I am not sure who Thiago Silva is but, Werdum trains with Rafael! The Cyborgs were the last of Chute Boxe fighter but, they are now on their own in San Diego! AND FOR YOUR INFORMATION I WAS ROOTING FOR MACACO WHEN HE FOUGHT PELE IN BRAZIL BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN A FAN OF BJJ FOR A LONG TIME. He does deserve respect! The only original chute boxe guys still around are Nilson Castro, Pica Pau and Monstro. Everyonoe else is gone. Yes, every fighter that steps in the cage deserves respect just like I said, so why is it that as a military veteran who made a great sacrifice for our country does not know how to give others their due respect? And just so we’re on the same page, Georgie, I’ve been training martial arts since the age of 5. I’m now 39, only a few years younger than yourself. My father was a Naval Officer and a decorated SEAL Team Leader, so I’ve been around military my entire life. I know how to show respect and learned the hard way growing up. My chin has been tested many times and I’m still here…so if you ever feel froggy…

There were some really stupid things being said here. I had fun there. Raul asked me to come so his wife would have someone to work with, and I really enjoyed it. Macaco was a great teacher, I learned a lot. Raul and Gabby are wonderful people who treat everyone with respect, kindness, and humility. Nobody there deserves any stupid comments from idiots who have NO CLUE what they are talking about.
If he did lose a fight, so freakin what? Everyone does at some point if they do it enough, so stop being an idiot. Who cares? He is a good guy, good coach, has a nice family, nice gym, and Macaco was awesome. You can learn something from everyone…no matter who they are and what you think of them.

I am a fitness competitor and athlete who trains and creates the most elite fitness models in the world, and am also the strength and conditioning coach for top athletes including MMA and am constantly named in magazines and on the radio as one of the best in the US, lmao! Hey GT…ive trained with Raul…and hes got good stuff to show. no doubt. what a gyms value is, will be determined by what the customer is looking for. If What Raul is offering is what the customer is looking for then its a good gym.

1. what is it that Raul lacks to make him qualified to train people?
2. in what areas do you see him being ineffective where others would be more effective?
3. why do you have such a heavy concern for peoples “acceptance” of others? ie you are talking about Jolene wanting approval or to feel good, others feeling good, etc….do you have an issue personally with acceptance or have you been spurned before?
4. And heres the big one….with your intimate knowledge that is clearly deep enough to pass judgement on rauls gym please enlighten me…what should be imporved on to make the product he offers worth the money he charges? I have never trained with Raul, but I can say first hand that if you have spent any time with Macaco you will learn something positive and it will change your game for the better. I would also imagine Raul is not the same Raul that lost to Chico and improving everyday like 99% of the MMA-BJJ world.

agree….and raul can lose to chico….that kid has fought on strikforce and is one of the top talants in texas. Thats not embaressing. Also there is a difference between coaching and fighting….and again raul is a very accomplished grappler and has lots to offer as well as fighting mma and working with maccaco.

This George guy claims that he is really into the sport yet he doesn’t know who Thiago Silva is? I have to agree with Drew this seems more like a personal attack, I have had the pleasure of training along side of Raul and he is a very helpful and friendly person, I would never even think of speaking one bad word about this man. MMA in general doesn’t need this kind of nonsense this sounds more like an angry elementary school kid who just had dirt kicked in his face on the playground and now is bigger and thinks he is all bada** and bowing up to anyone who has ever offended him. George, you could not be more wrong about any of these people you have spoken about in this thread, you apparently don’t know anything about the local Houston MMA scene and who some of the people your talking to are. Drew – Is a gym owner himself and a local Amateur Heavyweight Champ, and a pro Light-Heavyweight fighter., Jolene – Is a strong, fit, and awesome woman she is a personal trainer and can throw a punch better than most guys I know. You sit there in front of your computer and talk about people you have never met or had the pleasure of training with and you have all these negative things to say but these people are out there stepping into the cage, or running their own business basically doing what they LOVE to do and until you do the same you will never truly be happy, I’m sorry if you have in-fact lost your leg but it in no way gives you the right to judge people or their livelihood.

I’ve trained severals arts under several people in Houston and other places and can say, the Houston community has some of the best, well meaning, intelligent, and traditional schools and personalitys I’ve come across. I LOVE HOUSTON combat sports.

It’s spray tan, dude, LMAO, we have to do it for high profile photo shoots (looks good under those lights) but we look like carrots with normal cameras when we go out after… and couldn’t care less!!! It’s called, “YOU don’t know crap about us, so zip it, haha!” Part of my job. Need green hair to complete the carrot look, LMAO.
Drew and Donald are correct. There is something to learn from so many different people, and Houston has had MANY MANY UFC, PRIDE, ABU DABI winners and a slew of amazing fighters come here just to train for their fights with Houston trainers. ( Tito, Kevin, Ricco, Mark, Bas. Yves started here…that was in my day when MMA started, too many to name now) Houston trainers are awesome, and there is so much variety that whatever you are looking for, you will find what you need. They all have something different to offer, you just have to find the right place for what you want. Poeple talk crap about boxing these days, but it is still a very important part of MMA and an awesome sport in itself. Even football experience helps!
SIDE NOTE… RAUL KO’d HIS OPPONANT IN KOREA THIS PAST WEEKEND IN THE FIRST ROUND, THANK YOU!!! HE’S A HUMBLE GUY, BUT I WILL SPEAK FOR HIM. PLEASE SWALLOW YOUR TONGUE. EVERYONE HAS LOST AT SOME POINT, DOESN’T MAKE YOU A LOSER. YOU YOURSELF HAVE LOST, GT.
