Description:

Mark was an NCCA national champion. Since making the transition to MMA, he has become widely regarded as the best pure wrestler in MMA. In addition to being a great fighter, he is also helps many of the top MMA guys with their wrestling including Fabricio Verdum and Anderson Silva at his academy in Southern California, Reign Training Center.

Finally, Mark is a very inspirational speaker. Just listening to his advice on how to become a champion will be worth the cost.

To be honest, the expo was the driving factor behind us creating this survival guide. There is SO much to see and do, that’s part of the reason why it lasts two days! Cross Fit Competitions

 

Cost to compete: $50 (good for both days). Registrations will be accepted at the door on October 7, if the competition has not filled.

Location: Hall C

Description: The CrossFit competition will take place over 2 days. The cool about a CrossFit even is that the events are not announced in advance, so competitors have no idea wha they will be doing in the competition. Events are announced the day of the competition.

Note: No fee (other than a ticket into the expo) to watch the competition.

Fitness Kickboxing

Description: Well, we were going to try to sum up what this is, but it’s best to let the experts do it themselves. From the UFC Fan Expo site, “Join Fitness Kickboxing Canada, Canada’s leader in MMA Fitness, on the demo mat and experience fan interactive demonstrations with challenging drills for maximum intensity strength & cardio conditioning with and without resistance & reaction to improve stability, agility & athletic performance in MMA Cross Training. Participate in live demonstrations right on the Expo floor! Stop by Booth 1135 Friday & Saturday to watch and participate in these exciting sessions.”

Description:

Learn Jiu-Jitsu from one of the best, a third generation Gracie Jiu-Jitsu master, Rener Gracie. Rener will be teaching 4 Gracie Jiu-Jitsu master seminars at the expo. He’s a highly regarded instructor and is will be offering seminars to all levels on Mount Submissions, Side Mount Submissions, Triangle Chokes and Submission Counters.

Note: Admission to UFC Fan Expo is not included and must be purchased separately if you wish to gain access to the exhibit hall. ALL EXPERIENCE LEVELS ARE WELCOME.

“All (4) Seminars will be no-gi seminars. You are allowed to wear a gi if you’d like, but none of the techniques will be gi reliant. No tank tops or cut-off t-shirts allowed. Rash guards or t-shirts (short or long sleeves) can be worn along with gi pants or fight shorts. “

Description: According to the UFC Fan Expo site, the T&D sessions “…will be informative and interactive allowing both the passionate fan as well as the hardcore athlete to meet their favorite fighters, learn their techniques, and participate in powerful Q&A Sessions and meet & greets.”

Note: Seating is limited to the first 100 registrants. Pricing includes tax. No spectators. Ages 13 and under free with ONE adult at no addition charge.

Description:

According to the UFC Fan Expo site, “Born in the Navy SEALS, TRX Suspension Training bodyweight exercise builds core strength, balance and mobility simultaneously. The site says there will be a total of 4 sessions, we only found 3 listed.

Octagon Nation Tour

The Ultimate Fighting Championship® brings the UFC experience to fans with the Octagon Nation Tour, an interactive tour stopping in cities around the country. Fans can test their skills, check out the UFC gaming station featuring an exclusive preview of the Xbox Kinect UFC Trainer Experience, meet UFC fighters and visit the memorabilia exhibition featuring 18 years of UFC history.

Have Some Fun

 

Activities include physical fitness tests for fans (weigh-in, high jump, pull-up bar and a punch strength station) where each visitor receives a fight card with their results and stats that are posted to UFC.com and UFC’s Facebook site. There is also a memorabilia truck showcasing iconic items from the UFC’s 18-year history, and the gaming station that features new and exclusive UFC Xbox games.

This is the first year of the tour and the next couple of tour stops are here in Houston. The first stop will be on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 in Humble, TX followed by a second stop on Thursday, October 6, 2011 in Katy, TX.

The UFC will be holding open work-outs on Thursday October 6 at the George R. Brown Convention Center. The Workouts will take place inside the Octagon at the UFC Fan Expo.
