Why: We will be raising money for local fighter John Malbrough’s mom.  Mrs Malbrough recently suffered a heart attack.  She is a waitress, she doesn’t have insurance and was denied benefits because she was told she makes too much money.  She was recently sent home early from the hospital due to the fact that she couldn’t pay.

The family has paid what they can but have exhausted their resources, and now, along with her hospital bills, her regular bills are piling up.

We’ll be taking donations all night, having silent auctions for some of the prizes and we’ll be selling raffle tickets for $2 each for the others.

Even if you can’t stay all night, come out and support one of our own within the MMA community here in Houston!

I’m happy to announce that our Calendar of events is up and running. We are working with all the local promoters and event organizers to get ALL of the local Houston events added as quickly as possible.

You can view the calendar here, or click on the “Calendar of Events” navigation option at the top of the site. We’ve already added a lot of national events (UFC/WEC/StrikeForce) to the calendar, but the real purpose of the calendar is to bring you ALL of the local MMA events and happening in the Houston area.

If we missed your local event, or you don’t see it listed, you can use our Submit Event form to send us the info so we can get it added.

If you have read the latest issue of Undefeated Magazine and the Chad Robo interview, you might have thought you were having a moment of déjà vu.   Yes, that’s pretty much our interview word for word.  To their credit, they did move things around a little, and they added a few sentences.  Oh, and they changed the fact that TheCageDoor.net was asking the questions, instead making it look like Undefeated was asking them.

Our site was not given proper (or ANY) credit in the magazine for being the originators of the interview, just my name was used, but that doesn’t really help us, now does it .  Hell, they didn’t even list me under the “Contributing Writers” section, they put me under “Special Thanks”.  Also, it doesn’t repay us for the hard work we put into getting and posting that interview.  Conducting and publishing interviews isn’t as easy as you would think.  Heck, maybe that’s why they did what they did. It probably saved them a ton of time.

The worst part is that I was asked (by them) to write their cover story on Robo for them, and I refused because I was too busy focusing on getting our site up, running and off the ground.  I agreed that they could use A COUPLE OF QUOTES from the interview, provided they credit the website in the interview.  Apparently, none of that mattered.

Maybe next month they will print a retraction or an update, giving us the credit we deserve, and if they do, I’ll take this blog post down. But until then (and since they wouldn’t tell you who really did the majority of that interview), this will stay on the top of our site where the 8,000+ people who visit us in November will have a chance to see it.

HOUSTON’S MOST COMPREHENSIVE PRO MMA FIGHTER DATABASE

We are working on adding as many PRO fighters currently fighting in the Houston area to a searchable database.  We are (and will be) reaching out to all of the gyms around town and getting the info for each of their pro fighters.  Check back, as we are working hard to get this new Fighter Database launched as quickly as possible.

I’m also going to include a “suggestion” form so that if you find out about an event, or you are a promotor, coach or trainer and want to get your event on the calendar, you can send us the info and we’ll add it for you.
